Government Affairs Committee Policy Statements


The following are the Policy Statements of the Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as authorized by the Government Affairs Committee. These Policies are deemed to be of utmost importance to the local business community and to the economic health of the Yuba Sutter area.


Promote a Pro-Business Environment:

  1. Facilitate a market-based economy by supporting rational regulatory and tax policies, promoting incentives for business expansion and supporting the efficient operation of regulatory agencies.
  2. Support infrastructure improvements related to energy, water, air, transportation and communications.
  3. Promote workforce development by supporting training and education.
  4. Oppose state mandates that impose obligations on local agencies or businesses without providing the necessary resources to comply those obligations.
  5. Reform legislation that would promote regulatory approaches or mandates that are punitive or costly as well as promote the region’s competitiveness for economic development and job creation.


The Committee achieves this through:

  1. Promoting member awareness and involvement in local and state issues that affect the business community by serving as an information resource to our members through seminars, newsletters, issue alerts and other communication vehicles.
  2. Developing policy positions for YSCC and then advocating the concerns of the business community to the various public bodies and organizations.
  3. Pursuing issues that are reflective of the interests of our members as determined through member surveys, outreach and feedback. Collaboration with local, state and the U.S. chambers and
