Mission: Establish necessary relationships with city, county, federal and
state elected officials to support or oppose issues impacting the
Yuba-Sutter business community.

The Government Affairs Committee of the
Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce is the group that considers issues of
political interest to the business community. Mission Statement: “The
purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to study, analyze, formulate,
record, and advocate for positions and issues of interest to the Yuba-Sutter
business community". It is also to establish necessary relationships with
the city, county, state and federal elected officials to support or oppose
issues impacting the Yuba-Sutter business community.
The GAC is made up of 20 members, 10 from the Board of Directors and 10
at-large members from the general membership.
The committee is empowered to represent the Chamber publicly without
ratification by the Board of Directors. This allows the Chamber to formulate
policies allowing quick formal response to issues. Another objective is to
monitor breaking issues, city and county agendas, and any state or federal
legislation of interest.
The GAC uses an  Issue Assessment Criteria to determine
if an issue will be considered by the committee and has an Issue Flowchart to determine how the
issue will be addressed.
In 2008, the GAC formed a Flood Control Task Force whose immediate mission is to study and inform the community regarding the impact of newly re-drawn flood zone maps.
In 2007, the committee,
- Participated in discussions to establish a fair and equitable development impact fee schedule for residential and commercial development.

Participated in the Beale Joint Land Use Studay.

Supported the Yuba Highlands project, stating that the project would promote economic development in the region, create jobs and provide housing for foothills residents and workers.

- Supported regional transportation improvements in the Sacramento region through the Regional Chamber Coalition.

- Continued the Legislative Lunch series to present information on issues of importance to the business community. The topics included health care, flood control and Measure 1E, and eminent domain.
