Annual Dinner
Every year in January, the Chamber hosts it's Annual Dinner. This event highlights the accomplishments of the previous year, introduces the program of work for the coming year and the installation of the incoming Board of Directors. The Annual Dinner also provides an opportunity for the whole Yuba-Sutter business community to celebrate and recognize the significant contributions made by many local businesses and individuals through the presentation of several awards. These include:
- Civic Entrepreneur of the Year,
- Civic Organization of the Year,
- Non-Profit Business of the Year,
- Small Business of the Year
Great Balls of Fire
The Chamber's annual mega Business After Hours, held the third Thursday in September, is an all fun event centered around a reverse raffle. Caterers from our local area also provide a lavish display of fine foods, desserts and hors d'ouvres at this free event. Raffle tickets cost $100 each and 300 tickets are sold, which are then numbered on 300 balls drawn from a barrel. As each ball is drawn, the numbers are called out. Two dozen baskets are given as prizes. The numbers are drawn toward a final top four prizes, including, in the past, a grand prize of a trip to Hawaii. In the end one last ball is auctioned off to the highest bidder to go into the final four. And, this year, in a new twist, a fifth ball will be drawn from the losing balls so not winning becomes more exciting with every number.
