The
Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce presented four Chamber awards to recognize the
volunteer efforts of individuals and businesses. The recipients were invited to
comment on receiving their award. The awards include Ambassador of the Year, Volunteer
of the Year and Exemplary LEADership, awarded to individuals for their
outstanding volunteer effort for the Chamber. The Chairman’s Award goes to an
individual or business that commits substantial effort to a specific Chamber
activity or serves in a variety of ways.
Ambassador
of the Year: Kathy Hammons,
Independent Consultant, Cookie Lee Jewelry
“I
was so surprised when my name was called for this very special award. There are
many outstanding Ambassadors, I was
amazed that I was chosen. It is truly an honor to be rewarded for something
that I love doing.
As
an Ambassador, if I can help promote someone’s business, that is reward in
itself. To be named Ambassador of the Year is just ‘icing on the cake’. Being
able to spend time with such a fantastic group of very caring and giving people
is a real blessing.
I
would like to personally thank my close friend, Marie Teria, for introducing me
to the Chamber. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be involved
in the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce.”
Exemplary
LEADership Award: Cindy Blair, Fremont-Rideout Health Group
“I
am honored to have received the Exemplary LEADership Award. I graduated from
the LEAD program in 2001 and have continued to be involved in the program ever
since. I’ve served on the LEAD Steering Committee since 2001, where I am
currently the Vice Chair and have also served as class advisor for several
classes. Though I’ve volunteered in other capacities within the community, I’ve
remained involved with LEAD because it’s a program I believe in. Going through
the course year benefits the participants by providing them with an education
of our community as well as identifying community leadership and volunteer
opportunities. A primary goal of the program is that participants will go on to
become community leaders after completing the program - which benefits the
community as well as the participant. I appreciate the ongoing support of my
employer, the Fremont-Rideout Health Group, for allowing me the time needed to
continue my involvement with LEAD. I am grateful to the Chamber of Commerce and
those that selected me for this award.”
