The Chamber of Commerce recruits and attracts a broad range of community leaders for its board so that it may represent the local business and non-profit community as widely as possible. The Chamber seeks men, women, small and large business owners, the private and public sector, people living and working on both sides of the river, the non-profit community, and diverse business sectors. The 2010 board, as always, is a talented and capable group committed to the Chamber's mission of nurturing conditions conducive to enticing and growing business, understanding that a happy community relies on a healthy economy.

Rik also serves as a board member for the United Way and the River Valley Community Foundation. Waterfowl and wild game are his passion and he is a member of Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, CA Waterfowl Association, and Sutter Buttes SCI.

She has 33 years of banking experience and currently serves as the manager of the Marysville Store of Umpqua Bank. While living in Oregon she served as board member and president of another Chamber and as president of a Kiwanis club. She enjoys volunteering as a financial education instructor at the Yuba County Career One Stop. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oregon State University.

Nicole Brazie is an Associate Attorney with the Law Offices of Rich, Fuidge, Morris & Lane, Inc. in Marysville.  Nicole joined the firm in 2005 after getting married and moving to Colusa.  Nicole was with a large law firm in Modesto prior to moving to this area.  She practices in the areas of Trust Administration, Probate, Estate Planning, Real Property Law, and Business Litigation, and is a member of the State Bar of California and admitted to practice before the California State Courts, the United States District Court - Eastern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.  She is a member of the Yuba-Sutter and American Bar Associations.  Nicole is also a member of the Marysville Rotary Club.

ray emerson.web.jpgRay Emerson and wife, Jan, Sutter county residents since 1989, own and operate the Cake Lady / Victorian Manor bakery and event center in Yuba City.  Ray's background entails twenty six years in the wholesale baking industry for a national corporation. He has traveled extensively and held upper management positions in sales, sales management and key account executive as well as other corporate hats. In addition, Ray owns and operates Golden West Welding Supply, in partnership with Jan.  Jan has traveled nationwide and held retail management positions for a national cosmetic and fragrance firm for over twenty years.  Since acquiring the Cake Lady, they have turned it into a premium bakery, catering to a wide clientele, from southern California to many surrounding cities and counties in northern California.

Dr. Ozeran is a trauma and general surgeon providing services in both Yuba and Sutter Counties since 1992. He has been a software engineer for 30 years. Dr. Ozeran has been involved in health information technology (HIT) for 20 years, recently publishing a book on implementing electronic health records, recently recognized for HIT efforts for the State of California, and currently on the UC Davis volunteer faculty in health informatics. He is president of Clinical Informatics, Inc. founded in 2000, which promotes optimal computer use in clinical practice.

dave_schmall.web.jpgDave Schmall is Publisher of the Appeal-Democrat.  He has a diverse background in the print and online publishing industry along with a track record of innovation and successfully leading media operations in highly competitive markets.  Before making the jump into media, Dave spent several years in progressive sales and marketing roles with two Fortune 500 consumer packaged goods companies including Coors Brewing Company.  He has a B.A. degree from Marquette University and attended Gonzaga School of Law.  Dave also serves on the Board of Directors for the Fremont-Rideout Foundation, The United Way Allocations Committee and is an active member of the Beale Military Liaison Committee and Marysville Rotary.

claudia hollis.web.jpgClaudia Hollis is the Branch Manager of FREED Center for Independence in Marysville. FREED is a resource center for people with disabilities in Yuba and Counties. FREED is unique in that over 50% of their staff and board of directors have disabilities. Claudia has a profound hearing loss since birth and is usually accompanied by her certified hearing alert dog, Chip. Claudia is a Yuba^Sutter LEAD alumni. She sits on numerous commissions, boards and advisory committees including Yuba County's General Plan Update Advisory Committee, Community Services Commission, In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee, First 5 Yuba Advisory Committee, Bridges to Housing Board of Directors, Yuba Sutter Homeless Consortium, Interagency Council and LEAD Steering Committee. She is married to John Hollis, photographer and Appeal Democrat copy editor. They consider Marysville their home town after moving here from Southern California 5 years ago. She feels the Chamber offers excellent opportunities for outreach and increased awareness to the business community about the advantages of an accessible community for all citizens.

A lifetime and fourth generation Yuba City resident, Julie Shackleford attended local schools entering into community banking shortly after high school.  A graduate of the University of Phoenix and the Texas Graduate School of Community Bank Management, Ms. Shackleford has spent the past 30 years working at local community banks.  Her vast experience includes leadership, branch operations, business development, finance, loan administration as well as shareholder and customer relations to name a few.  She has held positions such as Operations Manager, Cashier, Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, as well as President and Chief Executive Officer.  She is on the Board of the Yuba/Sutter Chamber of Commerce and is active in a wide array of community activities and organizations.

david yamamoto.web.102.jpgDavid Yamamoto is the Chief Executive Officer for Sutter North Medical Foundation in Yuba City. He has served in that position since May 2005. He joined the Chamber's Board of Directors in November 2009. Yamamoto has served in senior healthcare management for more than 25 years. He has expertise in managed care, construction planning and management, physician practice management, new business development and the start up of new service lines and initiatives. Sutter North Medical Foundation is affiliated with Sutter Health and provides comprehensive management services to more than 70 physicians in Yuba and Sutter counties. It also offers ancillary services including radiology, lab, Urgent Care, Occupational Health, Home Health, Hospice, Physical Therapy, Cardiac Rehab, Pain Management and a Procedure Center. He has a bachelor's degree in Biology from California State University, Sacramento, and a master's degree in Health Services Management from Gold Gate University in San Francisco.
