Government Affairs Committee
Mission: Establish necessary relationships with city, county, federal and state elected officials to support or oppose issues impacting the Yuba-Sutter business community.
The Government Affairs Committee (GAC) is truly the "voice of business" in Yuba-Sutter. Should the Chamber of Commerce be asked how government action will affect the business community, this is the committee that speaks. It is second only to the Board of Directors in authority. See the GAC page for more information.
Flood Control Task Force
In 2008, the GAC formed a Flood Control Task Force whose immediate
mission is to study and inform the community regarding the impact of
newly re-drawn flood zone maps. It is anticipated this task force will operate for several years.

Marketing Committee
Mission: Join in partnership with the cities and counties for a coordinated effort to improve the economic climate in the Yuba-Sutter area.
Shop Local Task Force
This committee is mounting vendor festivals in various locations
throughout the Marysville and Yuba City areas to introduce and
re-acquaint residents to local businesses. In 2008, it is planning two
festivals - one in Yuba City in May, and one in October the Plumas Lake area of south Yuba County.
Also in 2008, local media are working together on a project to help
educate the community on the value to the entire community of spending
its dollars where its residents live.

Annual Dinner Committee
This elegant themed event held each January honors local businesses with our Vision Awards, installs the
Chamber's new Board of Directors and welcomes the new Chairman to his or her leadership role. Around 450 people attended the event in 2008, which saw some 60 volunteers work an untold number of hours to present the area's most "must-be-there" event for business.
Great Balls of Fire!
The Chamber kicks up its heels and lets down its hair! Member caterers put their best foot forward for some outstanding treats to accompany an exciting and entertaining mega-reverse raffle with loads of generously donated prizes. The event is an exceptional networking opportunity, taking the place of the normal September Business After Hours, and great fun for spectators, too. As with the Annual Dinner, Great Balls of Fire! is a somewhat complicated event and takes many volunteer hours to mount.

Ambassadors
Mission: To acquire and retain Chamber members; to improve the image of the Chamber, to serve as official greeters and representatives of the Chamber, and to achieve the goals of the current Program of Work.
The Chamber's Ambassadors attend, emcee, organize, or otherwise significantly assist all Chamber events, expecially its "mixers" - the monthly Business After Hours and ribbon cuttings for new and re-located businesses. See their page and meet this hard-working and enthusiastic group!
Business Connection Breakfast Committee
This is a topic event held at 7:30 a.m. on the last Friday of each month at varying locations with varying speakers. Past breakfast topics have included "State of the Cities" and "State of the Counties" featuring local government officials speaking, Beale Air Force Base, Transportation, and tax advantages to businesses and their employees located in Enterprise Zones. The committee selects topics of interests, arranges for the location of the breakfast and certain other details necessary to planning each event.

Workforce Development Awards Committee
Recognizing the importance of a skilled local workforce to a health economy, this committee has worked very hard over the last few years to solicit funds from various business sectors to increase cash grants from $1200 to over $20,000 a year. Grants of up to $2,500 have been awarded for tuition and required materials at trade schools and colleges to people of any age needing money to improve their work skills. The application period for 2008 has closed.
Scholarship Foundation
This 501(c)3 is the charitable entity organized to allow that donations to the Workforce Development Awards may be fully tax-deductible as charitable contributions. Contact Ric Teagarden, Presdient, 749-4855, for more information.

Mission: Promote tourism in the Yuba-Sutter area for the purpose of economic development.
The Chamber's effort of many years to promote regional tourism has taken a giant leap recently with the infusion of funds from the four local government entities (City of Marysville, City of Yuba City, County of Yuba, County of Sutter).
This committee has been responsible for the production and distribution of thousands upon thousands of brochures about things to do and places to shop in our community. It also has produced the area's only professionally created, comprehensive, and regularly maintained webiste targeted specifically to visitors - visityubasutter.com . Enjoy!
