CHAMBER NOTES

October 21, 2008

A weekly summary of events, activities and information of interest to members of the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce.

DID YOU KNOW......... "October 23, 1924 --- The first radio network broadcast to the Pacific Coast allowed listeners in California, Oregon, and Washington to hear U.S. President Calvin Coolidge dedicate the Chamber of Commerce building in Washington, D.C. The Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce."

RUSS CLARK IS OK: A story in Tuesday's Appeal-Democrat mistakenly referred to Chamber Board Member Russ Clark as "recently deceased." Chamber staff have talked with Russ and he is fine. The story has been corrected on the newspaper's web site. We wanted to help Russ get this information out to the Chamber community as quickly as possible.

"'TIS THE SEASON TO SHOP LOCAL:" There are 22 businesses offering a Chamber discount. The businesses and their discounts will be printed in Business Today on Monday, October 27, and they can be found online at www.yubasutterchamber.com under Discounts to the Public. Two thousand discount cards have been distributed. Local television, radio and newspaper representatives are helping put together a "'Tis the Season to Shop Local" campaign to launch in November. The campaign motto is, "The Buck Stays Here." It is not too late to participate in the program!  For your listing in Business Today, publicity materials, Shop Local buttons and the discount cards, call the Chamber at 743-6501 or go online to www.yubasutterchamber.com.

PLACEMAT ADVERTISING:  The Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce is offering small business members a great affordable advertising opportunity.  We will be printing approximately 1,000 placemats that we will be using at our 2009 Business Connection Breakfasts, Legislative Lunches, etc.  Members can place a business card advertisement on the placemats for $100!  Space is limited and we expect them to sell quickly, so reserve your spot now.  To reserve your space or for more information please contact Mandy Jones, mjones@yubasutterchamber.com or call 530-743-3497.
