GBOF DONATIONS AND SPONSORS SOUGHT: We are gearing up for Great Balls of Fire, the Chamber's annual fundraiser and fun time. Hosted by the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, the event will have great food, fun times and a great reverse raffle. FREE ENHANCED DIRECTORY LISTINGS: Make sure to submit your free enhanced directory listing as a renewing member benefit. Renewing members have been Chamber members for more than one year.The listing on the Chamber's online membership directory gives a description of your business in 75 words or less, and is still available at $75 for new members (in your first year of membership). For examples of enhanced directory listings, check out Susie's Massage Therapy , Buttacavoli Industries, Inc. or Sutter Estates Retirement Community. An enhanced directory listing worksheet is on the chamber web site or call the office at 743-6501.
BULK EMAIL REMINDER: Many of our Chamber members enjoy sharing e-mail about their businesses with other members. We would like to remind Chamber members that CAN-SPAM Act regulations require that your e-mail give recipients an opt-out method, such as "If you do not wish to receive future e-mails from this sender, reply to this message with the word "Unsubscribe" in the subject line," and you must honor those responses. The law also requires that commercial e-mail be clearly identified as an advertisement and include the sender's valid physical address. Here is a link to the FTC's rules for commercial email.

Friday, August 8, 11:45 a.m. Legislative Lunch: The Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce has the honor of presenting Congressman Wally Herger with the 2007 Spirit of Enterprise award at this luncheon. This award, from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, recognizes members of Congress who vote with business at least 70% of the time over an entire year. The luncheon will be held at the Hillcrest Plaza Room, 210 Julie Drive, Yuba City. Please, no walk-ins or door-pay at this event. Thursday, August 7th, 11:30 a.m., Affirmative Defense Response Luncheon: New legislation regarding the mandatory FACTA Red Flag laws became effective January 1, 2008 and requires all businesses and their owners to be in compliance by November 1, 2008. Learn your company's civil and criminal liabilities under the new federal laws regarding Identity Theft in the work place and non-public information. Find out how this legislation holds businesses and their owners responsible and what you need to do to start your compliance program. Mitigate exposure and protect yourself, business, and customers. Thursday, August 14, 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 2nd Annual Non-traditional Career Awareness Day for Women. Sponsored by the Yuba County One Stop Center, women only are invited to meet with Program Representatives for the latest information on Apprenticeship Programs and High Wage Career Opportunities. The event is free, but space is limited. Free continental breakfast is included. Call 749-4850 to reserve your spot. Event will be held at the Elks Lodge, 920 D St in Marysville.
