OFFICE CLOSED JULY 4: The Chamber office will be closed Friday to observe Independence Day.

LEGISLATIVE LUNCH: Reservations are now being taken for the Legislative Lunch on Friday, August 8, where Congressman Wally Herger will receive the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise award. The lunch is at 11:45 a.m. at Hillcrest Plaza Room, 210 Julie Drive, Yuba City. The cost is $20. Call 743-6501 for reservations. Thanks to event sponsors Pacific Gas & Electric, Co. and Comcast and table sponsor Yuba-Sutter Disposal, Inc.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE BUDGET: Some members have asked about funding for activities of the Government Affairs Committee. The GAC is a volunteer committee made up of 10 board members and 10 non-board members. There is no funding for the committee. When the GAC takes a position, organizations are given permission to use the Chamber's name in their advertisements. Those organizations pay for the advertising. The Chamber does not provide any funding to any groups or organizations.

"CHAMBER CHALLENGE" SPONSORSHIPS: Comcast Channel 19 will air the "Chamber Challenge" four times in July. The July edition features past Board Chairmen Dan Flores and Bob Harlan and current Chairman of the Board Rich Gabel. The show will air at 7:30 p.m. July 30; 10:30 a.m. July 31; 5 p.m. August 1 and at 10:30 a.m. August 5. If you would like to sponsor a category on the show contact Sandra Drown at Express Employment Professionals at 671-9202. Sponsorships cost $150.
