A weekly summary of events, activities and information of interest to members of the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce.

 

DID YOU KNOW.........?  "In March, visits to the tourism web site went up 490 to 2,620 after the Chamber started running tourism advertising in Sunset and VIA magazines. The online advertising for one month also generated more than 150 requests for Visitors Guides to be sent around the country."

 

Member Notes

 

MAP AD SALES: The Chamber has a limited number of map ad spaces still available. Costs start at $350 with more than 7,500 maps going out in the Yuba-Sutter community. Payment is due when the map is ready to be printed. To reserve your space, call Membership Director Mandy Jones at 743-3497.

 

This Week's Chamber Events

 

CANDIDATES NIGHTS: Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 - The Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce and local media outlets have teamed together to present local political forums via television and radio.  The event will span two nights, Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8.  The Sutter County forum on May 7th will feature supervisor candidates for the 1st District at 6:00 p.m., District 4 at 7:15 and District 5 at 8:15.  The Yuba County forum on May 8th will feature supervisor candidates for the 2nd District at 6:00 p.m., District 3 at 7:00 and District 4 at 8:00.  Both evenings will be broadcast on Comcast Cable Channel 19 and simulcast on AM 1600 and FM 95.5 KUBA.  Candidates will be interviewed by representatives from KUBA Radio and the Appeal-Democrat.  Because the broadcast is originating from the Comcast studios, there will be no audience

 

BOSS OF THE MOSS: Friday, May 9, 5:30 p.m., LEAD Y^S Putt-Putt golf fundraiser. Food, spirits, prizes, and lots of laughter.  Donations are welcome even if you don't want to play!  Contact Randi Hames, 530-749-4727.

Thursday, May 8, 4:00 p.m., Yuba-Sutter Transit Plan Workshop:  The draft 2008 Yuba-Sutter Short Range Transit Plan is now available for public review and comment.  The public is invited to participate in a special workshop on the plan.  The Y-S Short Range Transit plan, last updated in 2003, is the local blueprint for transit operations and development.  It includes many operational, capital, management and financial recommendations believed necessary to effectively and efficiently meet current and future local transit service needs in a financially constrained environment over the next five to ten years.  The workshop will be held at the Yuba County Government Center, conference room #2, 915 8th Street in Marysville.  Adoption of the final plan is May 22nd at 4:00 pm during the Yuba-Sutter Transit Board of Directors meeting at the Yuba County Board of Supervisors chambers in the same Government Center.  The plan is available for viewing at www.yubasuttertransit.com.
