Member Notes

Urgent 2008 Labor Law Update: The federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was amended on January 28, 2008 that adds benefits for military personnel and their families. This federally required posting must be posted next to, not on, your 2008 California and Federal Employment Poster. There is a Free download at http://www.calbizcentral.com/fmlaposter. Non-laminated all-in-one Labor Law posters are still available at the Chamber office for $25 but does not include this required information that was added.

Shop Local Festival: Reservations are now being taken for the May 10 Shop Local Festival at Raley's Shopping Center at Highway 99 and Bridge Street. This popular event, for the first time in Yuba City, introduces Chamber members to area shoppers. The cost for a booth is just $50 with food vendors required to purchase $30 event-day food permits from Sutter County Health Department. Sponsorships, from $250 to $1,000, are also available and include preferred vendor space and additional promotional opportunities.

Legislative Lunch Series: This year's series will feature Assemblymen Rick Keene and Doug LaMalfa on Friday, April 4, at 11:45 a.m. at Hillcrest Catering/The Plaza Room. The lunch on Friday, June 6, features Sen. Sam Aanestad and the final lunch on Friday, August 8, hosts Congressman Wally Herger. The cost is $20; $25 for non-members. All lunches are at the same time and location. Call 743-6501 for reservations.

Chamber Challenge sponsorships: With the "Chamber Challenge" with host Rich Gabel in full swing, this is a great sponsorship opportunity for your business. Sponsorships are $250 and include the hosting of a category with recognition on the show, pre-show publicity and recognition in Business Today, the Chamber's monthly magazine distributed in the Appeal-Democrat to 22,000 subscribers, and in the monthly mailer to 900 Chamber members. Tuesday, April 1, 5 p.m. Map Sales deadline to reserve space on the new full-size Yuba-Sutter maps. The cost for advertising is $350-$900 depending on size and placement. We print 7,500 copies which are distributed throughout the community and to Beale Air Force Base personnel. Call Mandy Jones at 743-3497 for more information.

Monday, April 14, 5 p.m., Workforce Development Awards deadline: The Chamber's Workforce Development Program is a unique awards program for students of all ages who are studying to work in the Yuba-Sutter area. The non-academic based awards focus on motivation and desire to work in the Yuba-Sutter community and range from $500 to $2,000. The information is available on the front page of www.yubasutterchamber.com or at the Chamber office. Download both the brochure and the application. Mailed applications must be postmarked by April 11.
