DID YOU KNOW......... "With rising costs, the Chamber Board of Directors agreed to hold 2008 costs for events and programs at 2007 rates and raised dues only 2 percent."
MEMBER NOTES
CHAMBER OFFICE CLOSED: The Chamber will be closed on Monday, January 21, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The office will re-open on Tuesday with regular business hours.
DINNER THANKS: The Chamber would like to thank all of the people who attended Saturday's Annual Dinner and the sponsors and donors who made it all happen. Mandy Jones and Laura Nicholson take responsibility and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the high temperature in the room. The event in previous years has been at the fairgrounds (notoriously cold) and they made a decision to turn up the heat to make sure the room was nice and warm upon your arrival.
MAKE-UP ORIENTATION: The recent bad weather made it difficult for members to attend the Member Orientation on Friday, January 4. Another orientation will be held Friday, January 18, at 8 a.m. at the Chamber annex. There is no cost to attend and reservations are not required.
LABOR LAW POSTERS: The Chamber will continue to take Labor Law posters to help businesses make sure they meet the state and federally mandated requirements. Call the Chamber office at 743-6501 for an order form.
FAMILY FRIENDLY WORKPLACE AWARDS: The Appeal-Democrat, Child Care Planning Council of Yuba and Sutter Counties and the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce, have teamed up to offer the 1st Family Friendly Workplace Awards. The award recognizes employers that offer family friendly programs and benefits in their workplace. Any business is eligible. Nomination forms are due by February 15. They can be downloaded at the Childcare Planning Council and Appeal-Democrat web sites. Submit nominations to the council at 1010 I Street in Marysville. Call 749-3726, ext. 106, for more information.
STORM DAMAGE REPORTING. Yuba City and Yuba County officials are collecting information on storm damage from the January 4, 2008, storm. The information will be useful in determining if State or Federal aid may be available at a later date. Residents or businesses submitting information should provide their:
The City of Yuba City has posted an online form at www.yubacity.net. For individuals who do not have Internet access and would like to report storm related damage, please contact Paul Klein, Yuba City Chief Building Official at (530) 822-4763.

Saturday, January 19, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, Personal Emergency Preparedness Class: Offered by the American Red Cross - Three Rivers Chapter, this class will be interactive and informative. There is no fee to attend and is open to everyone. Learn to prepare a Disaster Supplies Kit for your home, office and automobile and a Family Disaster Plan for responding to various emergency situations. Join us at the Red Cross office, 2125 E. Onstott Rd in Yuba City. The class will be held again in Wheatland on February 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. at St Monica's Parish Hall. Please register for either class with Charles McCaul at 530-673-1460.
