Visitors Guide Advertising: Thursday, November 1, is the deadline to advertise in the Chamber’s Visitors Guide being produced in partnership with the Appeal-Democrat and a-d agency. We print 15,000 copies annually, which are distributed to more than 230 businesses, tourism locations, recruiters and at community events. Legislative Lunch Speaker: Timothy Sandefur, a staff attorney at the Pacific Legal Foundation, will be the featured speaker at the Chamber’s Legislative Lunch Friday, October 19, at Hillcrest Catering/The Plaza Room. Sandefur’s work includes the area of eminent domain abuse. His book, Cornerstone of Liberty: Property Rights in 21st Century America was published in June, 2006 by the Cato Institute.
He is a contributing editor of Liberty magazine, and has written for many other publications, including The Cato Supreme Court Review, The Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, The Independent Review, Regulation, The Humanist, The American Enterprise, The Washington Times and others.
His writing has won a number of awards, including the George Washington Honor Medal (The Freedoms Foundation), the Felix Morley Journalism Competition (Institute for Humane Studies), the Madison-Maibach Award (Center for the Study of the Presidency) and the Claremont Institute's Reagan Medal for his work in public interest law. He is a Lincoln Fellow at the Claremont Institute, and a recipient of Chapman University's prestigious Dean's Professionalism Award.
